Antique doors, windows and window frames would have been seasoned for many years, outside in the sun, to prevent cracking and warping. It's important to be careful when selecting a paint stripper, as joints can crack and tighten and the wood can twist. Some of the doors we deal with are framed and plank wood Stuart doors, and six panel Georgian doors. More recent doors won't have been made from a few solid pieces but rather combined from flakes and fragments of wood, unlike older doors. Warped wood after a bad paint strip is usually very difficult to repair, so you're best off not taking any chances.
