After the paint has been stripped, we treat the wood, where wood is the material of the restoration project, with a natural oil layer, which causes the wood to glow with its richest colours.
And nobody has the experience and skill of Dipstrip at restoration and preservation! More recent doors won't have been made from a few solid pieces but rather combined from flakes and fragments of wood, unlike older doors. Nothing beats the craftsmanship and skill of yesteryear, so we're focused on restoartion while respecting and maintaining that level of quality. The paint stripping technique is one needing a careful eye and patience, as well as knowing when to start cleaning afterwards. It's not unusual for us to be restoring four panel Victorian doors and three plus one doors from the Edwardian era.
