Antique doors, windows and window frames would have been seasoned for many years, outside in the sun, to prevent cracking and warping. An advantage older fixtures have is that they don't get the modern kiln drying, which can shorten the lifespan of the wood considerably, so it's usually a good idea to make the effort to restore them properly. The paint stripping technique is one needing a careful eye and patience, as well as knowing when to start cleaning afterwards. Some of the doors we deal with are framed and plank wood Stuart doors, and six panel Georgian doors. We get your doors back to you dry and safe, and usually very quickly, with an overnight or sometimes same-day turnaround in many cases.
