An advantage older fixtures have is that they don't get the modern kiln drying, which can shorten the lifespan of the wood considerably, so it's usually a good idea to make the effort to restore them properly. Some of the doors we deal with are framed and plank wood Stuart doors, and six panel Georgian doors. There's no reason to risk your irreplaceable antique furniture, doors and window frames with anyone else. Antique doors, windows and window frames would have been seasoned for many years, outside in the sun, to prevent cracking and warping.
